The Gianduiotto

A special tour to discover Turin and its link with chocolate. Turin is in fact known as the Italian city of chocolate. The long history between Turin and chocolate began in 1560 when, to celebrate the transfer of the ducal capital from Chambéry to Turin, Emanuele Filiberto di Savoia symbolically served the city a steaming cup of chocolate. And again the famous Gianduiotto, which was born in Turin in 1852 from the genius of Michele Prochet who decided to combine a local product with the chocolate mixture: the hazelnut from the Langhe.
